Former Detention Officer Charged for Allegedly Selling Tobacco to Inmates

A former detention officer with the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office faces charges after allegedly selling tobacco to inmates at the county jail.
According to reports, Dior Adams, who was employed by the Sheriff’s Office, was charged on Monday, January 13, with providing and distributing tobacco products to incarcerated individuals.
The investigation into Adams began on December 5, 2024, following allegations that he was smuggling contraband into the facility.
Adams, who was placed on administrative hold, is scheduled for his first court appearance on Tuesday, January 14.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office stated that both the Sheriff and the District Attorney are committed to upholding public trust and ensuring accountability within the justice system. “We will pursue justice in accordance with the facts and evidence in this case,” the spokesperson added.
