When Adam Sperling joined Quail Hollow Club in 2018 to help prepare for the 2022 President’s Cup, he quickly found himself captivated by the venue.
“It’s a really special place to do what I do,” Sperling shared. “Once you find it, you don’t want to leave.”
And he didn’t. Sperling continued on as the club’s Director of Professional Golf after the President’s Cup, and now, he holds the title of Executive Director for the newly renamed Truist Championship.
With a new title sponsor and a new venue for 2025, the tournament, previously known as the Wells Fargo Championship, will be held at Philadelphia’s Cricket Club. Quail Hollow will instead host the 2025 PGA Championship in May, marking the third time in the event’s history it has been hosted at a different location.

Sperling views this change as an opportunity to innovate and refine the tournament experience. He sees 2025 as a chance to experiment with new ideas before bringing the event back to Charlotte in 2026.
“You’ll keep what works, try to enhance it, and look for inspiration everywhere,” Sperling explained. “The PGA Tour is very focused on delivering fan-centric events. What that looks like from now until 2026, we’ll figure out together.”
Despite the many changes, Sperling emphasizes that some key elements will stay consistent for fans attending the tournament in the future.
“These events are community events,” Sperling said. “The event is successful because of how the community comes together in so many ways.”
Sperling has previously overseen large-scale events like the President’s Cup at Quail Hollow, and he believes the club’s unique setup allows it to offer a top-tier experience both on and off the course.
“This club is one-of-a-kind. Inside the ropes, from tee to green, it’s a phenomenal facility for hosting the world’s best golfers,” Sperling said. “There aren’t many 250-acre properties that balance the competitive side with the fan experience so seamlessly.”
Although Sperling didn’t reveal specific changes for when the tournament returns to Charlotte in 2026, he’s eager to see how the event evolves.
“It’s going to be exciting to grow this event year after year and offer our fans and partners a fresh experience each time they visit Quail Hollow,” Sperling said.
The 2025 Truist Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club will be broadcast on WBTV News from May 7-11. A specific broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
