The long-awaited collaboration between Drake and Party Next Door is finally finished, but it’s not exactly what fans were expecting. Despite the hype, the album feels stuck in the past, evoking the sound of 2009 hip hop and R&B. As I listened through the tracks, I couldn’t help but feel like I had time-traveled back to an era dominated by vintage beats and syrupy melodies. In fact, I actually fell asleep for 20 minutes while listening, only to wake up to even more of the same: slow, nostalgic vibes that sounded a little too familiar.

It’s good music, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a sound that’s firmly rooted in a bygone era. The atmospheric production is all very reminiscent of their earlier work, but it feels strangely dated in 2025. While fans might appreciate the nostalgia trip, I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a missed opportunity to push the envelope further. In a world that’s moving at the speed of light, the album feels like a step back in time, for better or worse.
